Seniors in Motion

Then Seniors in Motion is the right fit for you!
Seniors in Motion is a free 12-session group program that focuses on exercise and health education for seniors. Seniors in Motion was designed to improve quality of life, and support seniors who want to age in place, through improved physical health and social connection. Past participants have shown “significant improvements in strength, endurance, social connectivity”, as well as improvements in “systolic and diastolic blood pressure, balance and mobility, and confidence in their mobility” (Brown and Russell, 2022).
This program will include sessions such as:
- Functional health assessments to determine how your health has changed over the course of the program
- Medical exercise specialist led small group exercises sessions
- Guided hydrotherapy sessions in a heated therapy pool
- Yoga sessions led by a Certified Yoga Teacher
- Lunch & Learn nutrition workshop with a Registered Dietitian
- Falls Prevention Workshop with a Registered Occupational Therapist
- Arthritis education session
- Pharmacist led medication and Q&A session
- Pelvic floor education session led by a Pelvic Health Physiotherapist (covering topics such as incontinence and pelvic pain)
People who are interested in participating must meet the following criteria:
- 55 years of age or older
- Must be mobile and able to move independently to attend and participate in each session
- Living independently
- Could benefit from an exercise and health education program
- Able to get transportation to program location
- Able to commit to the full program
